Jessica Violet Gwynne was born on 7 February 1944. She, the daughter of Major John Nevile Wake Gwynne and Patrica Louisa Morrison-Bell, is a painter and writer who uses her married name from her first marriage.
Jessica Douglas-Home's third book, A Glimpse of Empire, on the Delhi Durbar of 1911 is based on her grandmother's diaries and has been published to coincide with the Durbar centenary.
Jessica is the author of two previous books: Violet: The life and Loves of Violet Gordon Woodhouse (1996) Once Upon Another Time (2000)
Jessica Douglas-Home is President of the Mihai Eminescu Trust.
She married, firstly, Charles Cospatrick Douglas-Home, son of Hon. Henry Montagu Douglas-Home and Lady Alexandra Margaret Elizabeth Spencer, on 28 January 1966. She married, secondly, Charles Guy Rodney Leach, Baron Leach of Fairford, son of Charles Harold Leach and Nora Eunice Ashworth, in 1993.
By her first marriage, she has two sons, Tara John b. 8 Apr 1969 and Luke Cospatrick b. 2 Mar 1971.
